CBM Lawyers

In the 60-plus years since our founding, CBM has earned a reputation as a well-respected firm – both within the legal community and within the insurance industry in Western Canada. During this time, we have maintained our base in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Located in the heart of the city, our offices are conveniently located near the vibrant Ice District and Rogers Arena. It is from here that our firm has developed extensive experience throughout Alberta and other jurisdictions across Western Canada – including British Columbia, Northwest Territories, Yukon, Saskatchewan, and beyond.

CBM Lawyers has grown to become a highly respected insurance defence firm with national presence through Risk Management Counsel of Canada. We offer a slate of highly experienced counsel, with expertise in a broad range of areas within insurance to meet the needs of our clients, which include many local, national and international insurers. Over these many decades, we have earned, and continue to earn, the trust of those clients who have sought us out for legal advice.

Our Culture

CBM Lawyers is a leader in equity, diversity and inclusion and has been for many years. Since 2006 CBM has always had female representation on its management committee and that continues to this day. We currently have an equal number of male and female partners. CBM is made up of lawyers and staff from very diverse backgrounds and communities. We embrace those differences and value the varied perspectives this diversity fosters. CBM Lawyers has proudly supported and partnered with Food For Thought since 2019. This local non-profit provides healthy and fresh whole food meals and snacks to hungry schoolchildren. Unlike publicly-funded lunch programs that assist only the neediest schools, Food for Thought focuses on individual children in need throughout the 19 Edmonton schools they sponsor. Through healthy food education and other initiatives, Food for Thought seeks to alleviate the underlying problems which create food insecurity in our community.
